Usage: Signal cable for instrumentation and general signalling (monitoring) applications as in calling installations and safety installations. Also often used in EIA/RS-422 systems with low data speeds (< 1 Mbps) and PLC systems in an industrial environment (Telephony standard g2). Suitable for installation directly in the ground. Also used for permanent above-ground installation when extra mechanical protection is required. Also suitable for permanent installation in areas where electromagnetic interference (EMI) can be expected.
Properties:
- The PVC insulation guarantees good signal transmission for frequencies up to about 100 kHz.
- The star-shaped structure of the cable to a very large degree prevents cross talk between the pairs.
- The screening offers good protection against electromagentic interference (EMI).
- The steel-wire plaiting around the cable provides excellent mechanical protection.
- The jacked is almost fireproof and prevents any possible fire from jumping down the length of the cable bundle, also limiting the development of smoke and aggressive gases.
